Wanjiru is a communications professional with over 15 years of experience in media (journalism), corporate communications and public relations. A passionate storyteller dedicated to making communication simple, impactful and engaging, she believes in the power of stories to create meaningful connections and drive positive change.
As Senior Director, Kenya, and East Africa Lead, Wanjiru oversees our programs in the region from Nairobi. She leads project strategy and implementation and oversees day-to-day account management, stakeholder engagement and content development spanning traditional and new media. In addition, Wanjiru leads business development and operations in the region, in addition to heading the Africa media desk.
Wanjiru began her career as a business reporter at Kenya’s largest media house before transitioning to public relations, where she worked as a communications specialist leading strategy and execution for brands such as Coca-Cola, Mastercard, Diageo, HEINEKEN, Sony, and Samsung. Prior to joining GHS in 2019, Wanjiru led media engagement, agency management, content development and executive communications for various business units and the CEO’s office as a communications business partner at Safaricom—the largest provider of converged communication solutions in Kenya.
Wanjiru holds a B.A. in Communication from Daystar University and brings to the team a wealth of knowledge in communications strategy, C-Suite communications and strategic stakeholder engagement, media relations, content, events planning, issues and crisis management, among others.
