Srikanth Ravishanker is a communications and public policy professional with a background in journalism, political communication, development work, and public health. Srikanth pursued his undergraduate degree in Mass Media with a specialisation in Journalism and completed his graduate degree in Public Policy.
Srikanth has over six years of experience in communications and public policy; however, he started as a sub-editor with ESPNcricinfo, before switching over to the development sector in 2015. Srikanth joined Apni Shala Foundation where he managed the organisations Fundraising and Communications portfolio. Subsequently, Srikanth pursued his Master of Public Policy from the National Law School of India University, Bangalore (the country’s premier law institution). During his graduate degree, Srikanth began working with Jignesh Mevani – Member of the Legislative Assembly of Gujarat – as a communications and policy assistant, where he oversaw media relations, constituency development, policy research, and political communication among other things. Srikanth has also held faculty positions at the Departments of Mass Media at St. Xavier’s College (Autonomous), and Somaiya University, Mumbai – where he taught courses on digital media, effective communications, and history to undergraduate and graduate students.
Prior to GHS, Srikanth worked as a Senior Communications Lead within the India Tuberculosis (TB) team at Clinton Health Access Initiative (CHAI). At CHAI, Srikanth oversaw communication work under Project JEET (Joint Effort for Elimination of Tuberculosis) where he designed communication and advocacy material to sensitise doctors and patients about TB Preventive Treatment. Srikanth also led the communications design and training of field staff for a newly-launched Active Case Finding Programme under Project JEET.
