Soumya is a Senior Program Associate at GHS since 2021. She has an academic background in social sciences and leverages her analytical and communications skills to advocate for policy change. Soumya has prior experience in research, content development and editorial work, having worked with leading institutes like the Nehru Museum Memorial and Library and National Museum of India. She has also undertaken an independent research project on climate change and building resilience amongst communities in rural Rajasthan and published a paper on the same in 2020. Soumya has been a Policy in Action fellow with Young Leaders for Active Citizenship, during which she worked on a policy brief on women’s labour force participation rates in India and Karnataka, for MP Rajeev Gowda. The research produced was used in parliamentary debates on the issue. Soumya has a bachelor’s degree in History from Miranda House, Delhi University, and completed her post-graduation from Jawaharlal Nehru University, New Delhi.
