Ria joined GHS in June 2017 post graduating from Shri Ram College of Commerce, University of Delhi with an undergraduate degree in Economics and a certificate in Risk Management from University of Twente, Netherlands. While at GHS, Ria co-authored a paper with a World Health Organization senior scientist focusing on the enigma around cholera prevention and control. She has worked on advocating for sustaining access to vaccines, creating an enabling environment for lymphatic filariasis elimination and on improving health outcomes for mothers and newborns, specifically through the reduction of newborn deaths and stillbirths.
Ria has been running a social organization that works to revive the art form of puppetry and use it as an effective tool of Behaviour Change Communication. It provides a means of employment to over 40 artists living in Kathputli colony, Shadipur, New Delhi. Recently, she was awarded the Best Young Achiever Award by Global Action on Poverty (supported by TATA Trusts) for her initiative. She was also one among 120 students selected from India for the Young Leaders Program by Indian School of Business, Hyderabad.
Previously, Ria has interned at KPMG and at Centre for Policy Analysis. In her free time, Ria likes to dance and travel.
