Prior to joining GHS, Michael served as the Senior Executive Assistant to the President of the Human Rights Campaign (HRC), America’s largest civil rights organization working to achieve equality for lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender Americans. During his time there, he assisted HRC’s President through such civil-rights milestones as the repeal of “Don’t Ask, Don’t Tell” and the passage of marriage equality in New York state.
Prior to his work at HRC, Michael served as a Senior Executive Assistant at CARE, a leading humanitarian organization fighting global poverty based in Atlanta, GA. In addition to the responsibilities of his job, Michael was also called upon to help plan some of CARE’s most high-profile events including conferences in Washington, Peru, and South Africa with such speakers as Melinda Gates, Rajiv Shah, and Archbishop Desmond Tutu.
Michael also has a life-long commitment to the performing arts. After studying music performance on the French Horn at Middle Tennessee State University, he has gone on to serve in his spare time as an usher at the Atlanta Symphony Orchestra, the Kennedy Center and Carnegie Hall.
