Mahira is an MPH graduate from Yale, specializing in Health Policy and Global Health, and holds an honors degree in Biology and Russian language and literature from Bryn Mawr College (B.A.).
Most recently, Mahira worked with the Yale Institute of Global Health and Gates Foundation, studying how vaccine uptake can be increased using behavioral science. Mahira has worked as a policy analyst for the Connecticut State Senate during the CT General Assembly on key issues such as vaccination policy, healthcare access, and mental health legislation. As a Fellow at UNICEF’s Maternal, Child, and Adolescent Health division in New York, she conducted an evaluation on COVID-19 response and mental health programming for UNICEF country offices and ministries of health. Prior to Yale, Mahira studied neurodegenerative disorders, depression, and anxiety at Rockefeller University under Nobel Laureate Dr. Greengard.
Mahira is passionate about global health policy, health equity, and mental health. She enjoys English, Urdu, and Russian literature, and grew up in Lahore, Pakistan.
