Strengthen Health Promotion Efforts, Ministry of Health Collaborates with Global Health Strategies
Jakarta, July 9, 2024
The Ministry of Health (MoH) of the Republic of Indonesia has officiated a collaboration with Global Health Strategies (GHS) through the signing of a memorandum of understanding (MoU) on Tuesday (9/7).
This strategic collaboration aims to support MoH in implementing national health programs. GHS will support MoH in increasing the coverage of routine immunizations and polio immunizations in Indonesia, as well as supporting efforts to combat infectious diseases such as Tuberculosis through strategic communication, innovative health promotion, and support the policy analysis and implementation.
In his remarks, Minister of Health Budi Gunadi Sadikin stated that Indonesia still lacks technical support in terms of health promotion. Therefore, MoH wants to enhance health promotion activities to improve public understanding on the importance of health. “I don’t just want to create programs. I want to create a movement, where everyone owns it, implements it, and feels it is important to do so,” said Minister Budi.
The main focuses of this collaboration include research and policy analysis, message and media communication development, organization of high-level meetings, coalition building, champion building, and community engagement.
The MoU was signed by Secretary-General of the Ministry of Health Kunta Wibawa Dasa Nugraha and Senior Vice President of Global Health Strategies Hitesh Mahajan. The signing ceremony was also witnessed by Minister of Health Budi Gunadi Sadikin.
Secretary-General Kunta stated that the Ministry of Health is currently undergoing a health transformation, with the main goal of shifting the public’s perspective from curative to promotive and preventive. “We want to promote health in the community so that people get to know themselves better and can live healthier lives,” said Secretary-General Kunta.
Through this collaboration, MoH hopes to develop informational and educational media targeting other diseases and strengthen collaboration with partners who have supported MoH programs. Additionally, with the experience that GHS has, it is hoped that health initiatives from Indonesia can also gain more exposure at the global level.
