Supriya brings over 15 years experience in public health, science and development to GHS. She specialises in shaping complex issues of development, health and science into action for the public, in a clear and engaging manner. She has experience of working with governments as well as non-governmental stakeholders, having held many responsible positions, such as Project Manager and Communications Specialist in WHO, Science and Technology Adviser to the British High Commission in India, and as Health and Science Editor of India Today magazine.

Prior to joining GHS, she worked for over 10 years at the World Health Organization Regional Office for South-East Asia (WHO SEARO). She has developed and helped implement plans and policies for science and public health in South-East Asia, while in WHO as well as the British High Commission in India. These include diverse situations such a bilateral agreement to promote science between UK and India; risk communication strategies outbreaks to comply with International Health Regulations (2005); advocacy and public awareness campaigns for tuberculosis, dengue and other communicable diseases; training material for community engagement for outbreaks like dengue and avian influenza; and health communication during the post-conflict humanitarian situation in Sri Lanka in 2009/10. While at India Today, her cover story on diabetes won her the Novo Nordisk award for health writing in India and was among the five shortlisted internationally.

Supriya has a PhD in Cell Biology from University College, University of London, and a B.Sc in Biochemistry from Kings College, University of London. She also has a certificate in Project management from Duke University.
