Shilpa is Project Director with GHS’s India office. She oversees the implementation of GHS’ Reproductive Maternal New Born Child and Adolescent Health (RMNCAH)Advocacy and Communications Project in the state of Uttar Pradesh. Shilpa brings over 22 years of experience in the field of public health, having worked with organizations like FHI 360, PATH, CARE, SIFPSA and the Family Planning Association of India. Her expertise lies in program management, establishing and sustaining partnerships, advocacy and communications.
Prior to joining GHS, Shilpa was Project Director with FHI 360 on the Improving Healthy Behaviours Program (IHBP), a project aimed at providing technical assistance to Government of India and Government of Uttar Pradesh for Social and Behaviour Change Communication for RMNCAH. Earlier, as State Director at PATH, Shilpa led the implementation of the Sure Start project on community-based maternal and newborn care in Uttar Pradesh. Covering over 13 million people from 11,000 villages, Sure Start’s biggest gift to the health system was to demonstrate the huge potential in strengthening local elected representatives for establishing functional village level systems to address health issues of women and children.
A Masters in Business Administration, Shilpa has worked with a wide range of stakeholders, networks and organizations. She has been a member of the State government’s Advisory Committees on NGOs and Population Issues.
