Kevin Short is a media and communications strategist devoted to the use of evidence to improve global health, human rights and development. Over the span of his professional and academic career, Kevin has worked in 16 countries on issues including HIV/AIDS, reproductive health and gender equality.
Kevin comes to GHS following his role as Senior Communications Specialist & Press Officer for the nonprofit public health research organization Population Council. Responsible for developing and executing media relations strategies, his efforts led to earned press coverage of critical health and rights topics in outlets like The New York Times, National Public Radio, The Atlantic, The Daily Nation (Kenya) and The Dhaka Tribune (Bangladesh).
In 2012, Kevin won a grant from the Circumnavigators Foundation to conduct research about how civil society organizations in Tanzania, Ukraine, Jordan, India, New Zealand and Brazil use digital technology to enhance civic engagement.
Kevin completed his undergraduate journalism residency at Business Day, a leading South African newspaper. He also worked as an Associate Editor for the business section of The Huffington Post. Kevin graduated from the Medill School of Journalism at Northwestern University. In his free time Kevin cheers for the Nets and Lakers, watches documentaries and tends to his indoor plant collection.
