Kelly graduated from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill in 2017 with a B.A. in Media and Journalism, specializing in Public Relations. She also double majored in Public Policy and minored in Spanish for the Professions. Throughout college, Kelly wrote for her school newspaper, reporting on policy issues that affect students at the university level, including sexual assault and mental health. She also conducted market research and planned PR campaigns to aid various clients in the education sector through her classes at UNC’s School of Media and Journalism.
Kelly first became interested in global health after working as a communications intern at the Duke University School of Nursing. There, she helped to rewrite the website for the Office of Global and Community Health Initiatives to increase interest in global health opportunities for students, and she organized a school-wide event to welcome donors and international student-visitors to Duke.
