Ellen joins GHS after graduating from Mount Holyoke College with a B.S. in Economics. She is passionate about entrepreneurship and ending social and health inequity especially among women. She is the Founder and Executive Director of Tiwale, a community organization that supports Malawian women through providing economic and education opportunities. For her efforts, Ellen was named Glamour Magazine’s 2017 College Woman of the Year. She is also one of Forbes’ Africa 30 Under 30, an Ashoka Future Forward Winner, a Global Citizen Youth Advocate, a Commonwealth Youth Awardee for Excellence in Development Work, a Powell Emerging Leader and a We Are Family Foundation (WAFF) Global Teen Leader. Ellen has shared her work at at three universities and fourteen conferences including the United Nations General Assembly.
Ellen is also a DJ, a mixed medium artist, and a self-proclaimed master green thumb of all chlorophyll-dependent living things.
