Wei Qiu is a Director at GHS Beijing, where he leads communications and advocacy programs. Prior to joining GHS, Wei worked with WWF, where he developed and executed communications strategies for a conservation portfolio including projects on climate & energy, market transformation and sustainable finance.
Before joining the conservation organization, Wei worked as a journalist with leading broadcast and print news organizations in China for eight years. Wei has rich experiences in covering breaking news and development issues in the Asia-Pacific region. He reported extensively on China's public health and demographic issues and was most recently in Japan reporting the earthquake and ensuing nuclear crisis. Wei earned two national journalism awards for his reports on Korean nuclear disarmament negotiations and Mainland-Taiwan relations.
Wei holds master’s degree in Journalism and bachelor’s degree in English and Science. He also received advanced training on media management.
