Nishant is a Manager at Global Health Strategies and works on political and media advocacy for the RMNCH+A and Family Planning programs. He is an experienced journalist and a development communications professional who holds a Master’s degree in Science and Technology Communications. He also holds certifications in Effective Electoral Assistance and Sustainability in Electoral Administration from the European Union-UNDP academic coalition, apart from one post graduate diploma in Human Resource Management.
Prior to joining Global Health Strategies, Nishant was working with the United Nations Development Programme as a Technical Expert in the Democracy and Governance Unit. There, he was working with the Election Commission of India to increase electoral participation in Uttar Pradesh. Nishant started his career, over a decade back, as a journalist writing for the Times of India. From there, he briefly moved to the Press Trust of India before joining the Hindustan Times, which happened to be his last full-time assignment as a journalist. He then decided to branch out to Development Communications as a domain and joined the Unique Identification Authority of India, where he managed the communications campaign for Aadhaar in UP and Uttarakhand. He is quite passionate about writing and occasionally writes for a couple of foreign publications as an independent writer. Nishant, who is also a trained Glider pilot, is in fact awaiting a publisher who would publish his first novella.
Nishant immensely respects diversity, for he believes uniformity can just not give way to sustainable unity. Apart from writing, his interests include reading, music and experimental cooking. He values secularism and democracy and is passionate about India and optimistic of a peaceful planet.
